We’re one of only five UK independent record shops accepting Record Token gift cards online, with thousands of vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, and pre-order titles to choose from. Use your token in full, part-pay and put the rest on a card, or check the balance — whatever works.
How to use your Record Token at checkout
- Add your records to the bag. Browse the shop and add what you want — vinyl, CDs, cassettes, pre-orders, anything in the catalogue except hi-fi equipment and gift vouchers.
- Enter your token at the basket stage. When you go to your bag, you’ll see a Record Tokens field. Enter the token number and PIN (both are on the back of the card). Your token balance will be applied straight away.
- Pay any remaining balance. If your token doesn’t cover the full order, just pay the difference by card or bank transfer at checkout. If your token has spare balance left, it stays on the card for next time.
💡 Got a token from a friend or family member?
The token can be used by anyone — you don’t need an account in the gift-giver’s name. Just pop the number and PIN in at the basket and you’re sorted.
What can I buy with a Record Token?
Record Tokens are valid on:
- New vinyl — albums, EPs, 7″ singles
- CDs and cassettes — standard editions and deluxe / box sets
- Pre-orders — secure that upcoming release before it drops
- Limited and exclusive editions — Indies-Only colour vinyl, RSD Stores Exclusives, anniversary editions
They’re not valid on hi-fi equipment, turntables, accessories, gift vouchers, or carrier bags — but pretty much everything else is fair game.

Can I spend my Record Token online at The Rock Box?

How much of my token can I use in one order?
As much or as little as you like. Use the full balance, or just part of it — anything left stays on the card for next time.
What happens if my token doesn’t cover the full order?
Just pay the remaining balance with a debit/credit card or by BACS bank transfer at checkout.
Do Record Tokens cover postage?
Yes — your token can be used towards postage as well as the products themselves. There’s no minimum spend.
Can I use a Record Token on pre-orders?
Absolutely. Pre-orders work the same as in-stock items — apply your token at the basket stage and pay any difference. Note: tokens can’t be combined with promotional codes including the Early Bird discount, but Early Bird is automatically applied on the price before token redemption.
How do I check my Record Token balance?
The number to call for balance enquiries is printed on the carrier card that came with your token. You can also see the available balance applied at the basket stage when you enter the token at checkout.
Do Record Tokens expire?
Record Tokens are valid for 96 months (8 years) from the last time the card was used. Each time you use it, the clock resets.
What if I have a problem redeeming online?
Give the shop a ring on 01276 26628 during opening hours and we’ll process the order manually. We’ll never lose a customer over a token glitch — we’ll always find a way.
